We all are aware of the latest technologies or say latest inventions, latest automobiles and machines that are in fashion. But have we ever thought that our brand new car that is our status symbol burns how many liters of petrol. Or have we ever thought to conserve our LPG gas by using some common cooking methods. The answer is undoubtedly no. It's not anyone's fault but sheer human mentality to think "why should we " there will be no change if one man begins to change his ways ?. But one thing is very clear that we all are aware of the depleting oil and gas. We really are close enough to the extinction of oil and gas. As petroleum and natural gas both are renewable resources and take millions of years in their formation so what if we run out of them.
CONSTITUENTS :
Petroleum or crude oil is a naturally occurring inflammable liquid. Its element composition consists of carbon upto 83 to 87 %, hydrogen 10 to 14% and small amounts of nitrogen, oxygen, sulphur and metals. While natural gas consists primarily of methane. It is found associated with fossil fuels, in coal beds and is also created by methanogenic organism.
CAUSE FOR THE DEPLETION :
We all have heard about the oil spill of Mumbai which made the headlines in 2010. The ships carrying vessels filled with chemicals collided with the city's coast causing an extensive oil spill in the sea water which lead to a devastating wastage of oil. Not only at country level but also at the local level we misuse these resources. For very short distance we are using our vehicles and burning our fuel. Oil also called as "liquid gold", one day will definitely cost us gold. Talking about the LPG gas supplied to our homes, we all are unknowingly wasting it like water. We utilize it as per our convenience. Food taken out from the refrigerator should also be first allowed to acquire room temperature so that it takes little time to get "hot". Our mind has been overpowered by the so called "moh-maya" of the outer world and we are working accordingly.
HIKE AND COMMON MAN :
As the budget of 2015 came we observed a hike in the prices of petrol and diesel. We always criticize the government for not showing any concern for the aam aadmi but have we ever thought that what the actual cause for this price hike is? Yes it is depletion of the natural resources due to human activity. We are still waiting for the " acche din" promised to us by Mr. Narendra Kumar Modi in his election campaigns but we have not realized the fact that we too have to contribute equally to achieve the benefits. After the budget the dream of these "acche din" just shattered into pieces.
COMMON WAYS OF CONSERVATION :
There are several ways by which we can conserve these natural resources like by traveling judiciously and curtailing unwanted driving. Car pooling, use of public transport , walking and cycling for short distances are some methods that not only help us to conserve our fuel but also help us to lead a healthy life. Try to avoid sudden speeding, braking and over loading and get your vehicle regular tune ups as it not only makes your car reliable but also burns our gas more effectively. Usage of sufficient amount of water while cooking and soaking of cereals before cooking not only reduces the cooking time but also fuel consumption.
it is said that : dinner time is family time. Behind this a novel thought persists that says one should always eat together with their family because it avoids repeated warming of food and conserves its nutritional quotient.
CONCLUSION :
Oil and natural gas touch our live s in countless ways every day. Together they supply more than 60% of our nations energy. They fuel our cars, heat our homes, cook our food and generates electricity also. It is said that life teaches us lessons and we should learn from it on the right time otherwise it teaches us the same lesson on wrong time. The lesson to conserve our natural resources should be learn on the right time before its too late .
