India is making its presence felt yet again at the prestigious 68th Cannes Film Festival. This is not just a film festival but a red carpet event which catches the attention of the entire world
Every year, Bollywood is making its presence more felt. Starting from it's loyal attendees, to people promoting their brands, movies and even being on the jury!
This year , Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on 14th May, inaugurated the India Pavilion at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival here. He also stressed on the importance of movies in government campaigns like ‘Make In India’ and ‘Skill India’.
The session also saw unveiling of the 46th IFFI, 2015 regulations and ‘India Film Guide’ by Rathore. The India Film Guide is a comprehensive booklet with information on policy initiatives by the government pertaining to film sector, the listing of Indian companies at Cannes Film Market, Indian films at Cannes and contacts of important people in the business of film making.
Gurvinder Singh’s Punjabi film “Chauthi Koot” and Neeraj Ghaywan’s debut feature “Masaan” are among the Indian films that have been chosen to be screened in the official UnCertain Regard section of the jamboree.
The red carpet has been graced by Indian ambassadors of L’Oreal Paris — Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Mallika Sherawat has also graced the event, part of the discussion panel on “Co-Produce in India” on behalf of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting – FCCI.
Aishwarya Rai Bachan who has been making an appearance at Cannes for more than a decade now as the brand ambassador of L'oreal Paris has rampantly faced bouquets and brickbats on her outfits at the festival for her choice of wardrobe at the red carpet, also participated in the Women’s discussion- highlighting the gender stereotype.
The other faces this year also includes Abhishek Bachchan, who will be accompanying his wife Aishwarya to the amfAR Gala and Director Sanjay Gupta, who will be releasing the first look of his film Jazbaa along with Aishwarya.
