UTV has just released the trailer of its upcoming romantic comedy ‘Katti Batti’. The film stars Kangana Ranaut as Payal , a free spirited, commitment phobic girl and Imran Khan as Madhav, a lovable, simple and middle class boy. The film promises the viewers that it is not your usual love story, Well that reminds us of another movie that gave us the same promise, Fox Star Studio’s 2009 released romantic-comedy ‘500 Days of Summer’, starring Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The film was termed as an offbeat love story by its maker similar to what ‘Katti-Batti’ is being called. So is it just a coincidence that the marketing strategy of both the films are the same or is it that the story, characters and the entire crux of the film taken from the 2009 hit film?
Though somewhere down the line we are expecting some ‘Bollywood-ness’ to enter the ‘off-beat’ story, the makers of ‘Katti Batti’ have a different story to tell. We’ll have to wait till September to find out the real similarities between the two films. Whether ‘Katti Batti’ joins the league of Ghajini (Momento) and Kyunki Main Jhoot Nahi Bolta (Liar Liar) or proves us wrong by being a completely different story is something time will tell.
