Independence Day Highlights:
People from all walks of life had queued up to participate in the event as early as 5:00 AM. Around 10,000 seats were set aside for general public at the venue and they were filled by 7:00 AM. Throughout the speech, people kept cheering and clapping jubilantly. The public responded to every pause with a loud cheer.
When Modi's cavalcade was leaving the venue, children waved their caps and scarves and greeted him. As last year, the Prime Minister stopped his car and went to meet the children. He shook hands with some kids and greeted them on the occasion
KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF MODI's INDEPENDENCE DAY SPEECH:-
(A)During his speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes a dig on previous UPA government, says it had become a fashion to keep making new laws.
(1)We need to make India capable, prosperous.
(2)There should be momentum created for achievement of goals by 2022. When we celebrate the 75th anniversary of freedom we should achieve targets
(3)I assure the ex servicemen that One Rank One Pension has been accepted in principle but it is in talks. We want to get a solution which is acceptable to all. Discussions have come to the final leg, we hope for a positive result.
(4) Many governments have faced the proposal of One Rank One Pension but no solution has been found yet.
(5)Why should it be mandatory for people to give interviews. I request state governments to remove the process of interviews for minor jobs to end corruption in getting jobs.
(6) I want all bank branches in India to contribute to the start up revolution
(7) We are looking at systems for enabling start-ups. We must be Number 1 in start-ups. 'Start-up India' & 'Stand up India'. There should not even been a single block in the country where there are no start ups
(8): A farmer in the country is as important as a soldier of the country
(9): Even after so many decades of Independence there are 18,500 villages in India which do not have electricity. We affirm our commitment to provide electricity to all those villages that do not have electricity.
(10) Narendra Modi: The 'Krishi Mantralaya' will now be known as 'Krishi Kalyan Mantralaya' (Agriculture ministry will be called agriculture and farmer welfare ministry)
(11) We need to increase agricultural productivity. Save water, save energy, save fertilizers should be our motto. We have earmarked Rs 50,000 crore for irrigation scheme
(12) We are installing gas pipelines & improving rail network
(13) India will be successful when UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and other parts of North East India are strengthened. India cannot develop till the eastern part of the country develops.
(14) Despite deficit rains, we have been successful in bringing down the inflation down from double digits to 3-4%
(15) We did not organize press conferences and talk about fighting against corruption, we acted on the ground and brought changes in the schemes to fight corruption.
(16) Rs 6500 crore disclosed under compliance window of black money & foreign assets law. People fear the law that has now been created. Stringent provisions will not be diluted despite pressures.
(17) Some people are worried about tough law on black money; it has ensured that nobody dares to take black money out of the country:
(18) Before we came to power, CBI had filed only 800 cases of corruption. Under our government, CBI has registered 1800 corruption cases in 10 months
(19) At G-20 summit, I worked with US and other countries to bring black money back.
(20) We have taken several steps to bring back black money. As soon as we came to power, we made the SC appointed SIT for black money probe which had been pending for 3 years
(21)There was a lot of pressure on me to not go forward with FM auction
(22) It has been 15 months in government and there is not a single charge of corruption on us
(23) We have auctioned coal, spectrum, radio, shown transparency, no corruption. Don't judge this in political terms
(24) We had decided that be in coal or spectrum, we will auction for them. The auctions were completed on time and over Rs 3 lakh crore were collected for India
(25)If I talk about coal, people will start equating my statements with a political angle. This is not a platform for politics, I'm not making any allegations on anyone.
(26) 20 lakh people have so far given up their gas subsidy
(27)We transferred gas subsidy into the accounts of beneficiaries, saved Rs 15,000 crore

(31) Based on my experience, I can say that India country can be freed of corruption.
(32) Our country talks a lot on corruption. Everyone advices each other over how to stay away from it. Even those people who are corrupt tend to give advice to others on how to deal with corruption.
(33) Dignity of labour has to be our national duty, it has to be a part of our nature. We introduced Shrameva Jayate Yojana. It is an effort to change the way we look at the workers of India. Dignity for all is our mission
(34)Almost 4.25 lakh toilets were built in 2.62 schools nationwide in one year; this gives self-confidence that we can do what we want.
(35) We have been very successful in our campaign to make toilets, especially for girls in schools across India. I thank the state governments, bureaucrats and everyone in Team India for their efforts in building toilets
(36) We have established a new culture where financial schemes schemes reach over 10,000 crore Indians
(37) The children of India have given the maximum strength to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. The biggest brand ambassadors of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan are the 5-10 year olds, who have taken part in this campaign enthusiastically
(38) People from all walks of life, spiritual leaders, media friends, celebrities, have worked to create awareness for Clean India
(39) Our programmes and missions must strive to end poverty
(40) If there is something that has touched every person, it is the movement towards cleanliness
(41) Last year I spoke about Clean India and open defecation, it was criticised then but that has been the main point with which the government has touched the lives of the people.
(42) When the economic strength of the last man increases, nobody can stop the growth and development of India. The biggest achievement of team India is completing the promises within the time frame
(43) All governments make policies, schemes and plans but what is important that the plans are implemented
(44) We will have to strengthen the foundation of development pyramid by financial inclusion
(45) We have laid emphasis on social security
(46) Government will work to the strengthen the bottom of the pyramid to ensure strength of economy
(47) I respect the richness of the poor of India who accumulated Rs 20,000 cr in their accounts, even though they could open zero balance accounts
(48) Bringing 17 crore people to the doors of the bank is a huge task and I commend all the bank officials for the same. It is not difficult to open a bank branch, it is difficult to get 17 crore people to open bank accounts.
(49) I'm confident that it is with the strength of the poor that India will move forward.
(50) Bank accounts are essential for integrating the poor into the financial system: PM
(51) In this one one year, we saw that the doors of the banks were not open for the poor. We decided this must end. We wanted to strengthen financial inclusion. Jan Dhan Yojna has been a success.
(52) Last year, was new here, I put forward what what I hoped & dreamt of India. But now I want to tell you Team India has new confidence. Poison of casteism and passion of communalism have no place in India, we have to defeat these through development
(53) Nobody wants to remain poor. Those who are poor want to move away from poverty. That is why, all our programmes must be for the poor. All our schemes must serve the poor.
(54) Be it MyGov, letters from citizens, Mann Ki Baat, communication with people. Daily 'Jan Bhagidari' is increasing.
(55) India is developing because of 125 crore strong Team India. We have to end the curse of casteism, communalism with the sweetness of development.
(56) There should be no place for casteism or communalism in India. In no way can they be tolerated
(57) If the unity of India is destroyed then the dreams of the people are also destroyed
(58) Unity in diversity is India's strength. There is simplicity in every Indian. There is unity in every corner of India. This is our strength.
