Though Vikram’s trial will take time, I’m glad he has been charged under Section 304: Abhishek Dutta

KOLKATA: Friends of model-turned-anchor Sonika Singh Chauhan are happy that actor Vikram Chatterjee has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting for murder for her death in a car accident.

The charge carries a maximum jail term of 10 years.Said designer Abhishek Dutta, who attended a service at St Thomas' Church on Middleton Row on Monday to mark a month of her demise, said 'justice' has finally been done. "Though the trial will take time, at least he has been charged under Section 304," Dutta said.

According to Time of India's report which published on 1st May 2017 says  Model-actress Sonika Chauhan passed away in a road accident  when the car she was travelling in with friend, actor Vikram Chatterjee, hit the divider and climbed the pavement on Rashbehari Avenue.  Vikram, who reportedly sustained head injuries, was released from hospital initially but had to be admitted later when he complained of discomfort.
