On Sunday, India skipped China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) summit in Beijing attended by as many as 120 countries, including 29 at the top leadership level. India is the only South Asian nation except for Bhutan, which doesn’t have any diplomatic relation with China, who skipped the summit. All nations of the sub-continent attended China’s so-called “Project of the Century.”
Seen by China as the “project of the century”, OBOR focuses on improving connectivity and cooperation among Asian countries, Africa, China and Europe.
Launched in 2013, OROB involves China underwriting billions of dollars of infrastructure investment in countries along the old Silk Road linking it with Europe.
