Bhopal: The much-awaited movie ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ was released in all single-screen film theatres and multiplexes in the city on Friday. Based on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a government campaign to improve the sanitation conditions in the country, with an emphasis on the eradication of open defecation, especially in rural areas, the satire has mostly been shot in MP, mainly Sehore and Hoshangabad. The movie has also been shot in Mathura and Mumbai.
The film is directed by Narayan Singh and written by Siddharth Singh and Garima Wahal. Co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey, the film stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles, with Anupam Kher and Sana Khan in supporting roles. A filmmaker named Praveen Vyas has sent a legal notice to the makers, claiming that ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’ has plagiarised scenes and dialogues from his documentary ‘Manini’, also based on the same subject.
