Why #Kerala is no longer a God's Own Country ?

The death of Madhu, a 30-year-old Adivasi man who was assaulted by a self-righteous mob in Attappadi in Kerala, has left a wound in the conscience of the state. Accused of stealing rice and groceries worth Rs 200, Madhu was confronted and assaulted with sticks by a group of men, who then handed him over to the police. And when the police were taking him to the station, Madhu vomited blood and died before he could get medical help.

Moral policing and mob violence have been on the rise in Kerala for some time now but this latest incident of lynching has now taken the issue to a whole new level. The state, which was once proud of its tolerance and inclusiveness, has eventually become everything it stood against. Photos and videos of the incident are so shocking that you can see that some of the attackers were seen taking selfies and videos.One of them was Ubaid is a close aide of Muslim League leader N Shamsudeen MLA, who is a legislator from Mannarkad.Police have taken him and 7 others into custody It's an attack on the democratic sense, consciousness and sense of justice of the land. The 'selfie' culture of making violence similar to life evokes panic.

Moral police is a blanket term used to describe vigilante groups which act to enforce a code of morality in India. It has been in rise in India during Modi Era. People think it is an easy way to change the society and impose moral values which is right according to them. Moral policing is the worst thing that has happened to Indian society and it should be condemned and never encouraged.
