Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in a tweet said that he has reviewed the currency situation in the country and there was more than adequate currency available with the Banks. "The temporary shortage caused by sudden and unusual increase in (demand) in some areas is being tackled quickly," he said.

Last week cash crunch started from Telangana spread over eight more states in the country. Last week people in Hyderabad observed most of the ATM’s gone dry, they moved from one ATM to another in search of cash. The bankers tried to resume the supply of cash normal and called additional cash from Chennai and Banguluru.

But by this week the supply of cash worsened, instead of showing improvement signs. It spread through eight more states. These states includes UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The consumers are seen running from one ATM to another for want of cash deposited in their bank accounts.
