The Gujarat High Court on Friday, April 20, acquitted former BJP minister Maya Kodnani, despite eyewitness testimonies, in the Naroda Patiya riot case. As many as 97 Muslims were killed in the massacre that took place on 28 February 2002, in what was one of the worst incidents of the 2002 Gujarat riots.
Following the verdict, many took to Twitter expressing their views on the verdict. Many were taken aback by the news.

My 2017 report providing evidence that "Case Against Maya Kodnani, Convicted In 2002 Riots, Has Gaping Holes" fully vindicated today. I urge you all to read to know what level of legal mischief Teesta, Prashant Bhushan etc are capable of https://t.co/hf8kA0ZmVC via @swarajyamag— MadhuPurnima Kishwar (@madhukishwar) April 20, 2018
Arrest me for this, but I'll say it. Modi govt has unleashed mobs & criminals. They murder, they rape, they lynch. They know that nothing will happen and, in the words of genocide convict Babu Bajrangi, "Narendrabhai will come and free them." #MayaKodnani was his Cabinet Minister— Shehla Rashid (@Shehla_Rashid) April 20, 2018
