Aadhaar has got a thumbs up from Bill Gates. The Microsoft co-founder said the technology does not pose any privacy issue; rather it's an experiment worth emulating as "governance has a lot to do with how quickly countries are able to empower their people." The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has funded the World Bank to take the Aadhaar model to other countries and Nandan Nilekani (the chief architect of Aadhaar) is consulting on the project. Gates' comments come days before the Supreme Court announces its verdict on the constitutionality of Aadhaar.
