Who will be new Karnataka Chief Minister 2018? Ball now lies in the Governor’s court.

Outgoing Congress Chief Minister Siddaramiah—who had spent over two and a half decades in the Janata Dal and had a bitter parting with the party, had to announce the decision of the Congress to offer unconditional support to the JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy to become Chief Minister! On paper, the Congress, JD(S) and independents enjoy majority. Not to lose out on an opportunity to place the Congress on the defensive, the BJP has gone ahead and staked its claim to form the government on the ground that it is the single largest party in the newly elected Assembly. The ball now lies in the Governor’s court.
The split verdict in Karnataka raises many questions. At the outset, it clearly means that none of the three major players was able to secure majority support across the state. No party was able to establish a pan-Karnataka presence.

In an interesting fact , The micro-blogging platform registered over 30 lakh tweets related to Karnataka assembly polls in the past three weeks, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) garnering 51 per cent of the share of voice, Twitter announced on Wednesday.

Another interesting fact was that actor turned politican Upendra who stood for election with his own party failed to allure any online voters. He did all his promotions online only.
