Netflix may soon introduce cheaper plans in India.

Netflix may soon introduce cheaper plans in India. Chief product officer Greg Peters said in an earnings call the company will try other pricing models by offering plans below the “current lowest tier” as it looks to accelerate subscriber additions. The over-the-top media platform may also add shows in languages other than English and Hindi, CEO Reed Hastings said. Netflix is currently the most expensive streaming service in India, with its cheapest plan starting at ₹500 a month. That’s half the annual fee charged by rivals Amazon Prime and Hotstar. Eight in 10 Indian users share their OTT accounts with others, a recent survey found.
