Tata Nexon has become the first made-in-India car to secure a 5-star crash test rating from Global NCAP. The compact SUV notched up five stars for adult occupant protection and three stars for child occupant protection, scoring 16.06 points out of 17. Global NCAP has crash-tested 32 India-made cars over 2014-18, of which 19 have scored zero stars. Separately, starting October 2019, auto rickshaws will come with doors, airline-style seat belts for the driver, and two headlamps instead of one. Last year, the three-wheelers were involved in nearly 30,000 crashes, which claimed over 6,700 lives.
