Xiaomi just announced the Redmi 7 budget smartphone in China. The Redmi 7 succeeds last year's Redmi 6 and is one of Xiaomi's most affordable smartphones right now. Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the Redmi 7 will launch in India, but we can assume this considering the company launched the Redmi 6 last year. In terms of pricing, the Redmi 7 comes with a starting price of around Rs 7,000, which means the phone's main competitor in India will be the Galaxy M10
The Galaxy M10 is part of Samsung's new Galaxy M-series of affordable smartphones that alsoo includes the Galaxy M20 and M30 . It touts a waterdrop display and a wide-angle camera, among other things. The Redmi 7 also highlights a waterdrop display and a large battery. In addition to that, the Redmi 7 also comes in attractive gradient colours and P2i water resistance.

The Redmi 7 has been launched with a starting price of CNY 699 (approx Rs 7,150) for the base model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Xiaomi has also announced 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB versions that are priced at CNY 799 (approx Rs 8,150) and CNY 999 (approx Rs 10,200), respectively. The Galaxy M10 price in India starts at Rs 7,990 for the 2GB/16GB variant and goes up to Rs 8,999 for the 3GB/32GB model.
In terms of design, the Redmi 7 follows in the same footsteps as the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro. It gets a gradient colour finish on the rear panel in Red and Blue options as well as a plain Black colour option. The rear panel is made up of a glossy plastic material rather than glass.The Galaxy M10, on the other hand, offers a simpler design on the back with a plastic polycarbonate shell and single colour options in Ocean Blue and Charcoal.
