Basheer was killed in a mysterious accident at Museum Junction, Thiruvanthapuram in the night of 2nd August. He was returning home when a car rammed into his bike. The accident is mysterious because it is still unclear that who was driving the car. Eyewitnesses say popular IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman was behind the wheels. However, Sriram said that it was his girlfriend who was driving it. In fact, Wafa Afroz, the girlfriend of Sriram, has also given a statement on record that she was driving the car when accident occurred.
