Innova is the popular Indian model of Japanese automaker Toyota. Most of the Innovas sold in the country were diesel versions. Toyota Innova offered two different diesel engine options. However, Toyota is reportedly planning to close the production of these diesel engines.
The company is ending production of diesel engines as part of its transition to environmentally friendly vehicles. Toyota is planning to introduce a hybrid engine in the Innova. Reports say the hybrid petrol engine will be available in the Krista, which is expected to be launched in 2021.
The Innova Crystal is currently available in 2.4 liter, 2.8 liter diesel engines and 2.7 liter petrol engines. The hybrid system will be powered by a 2.4-liter petrol engine.
The Innova was launched in 2005 as a replacement for Qualis. The Innova was first launched in the Indonesian market in 2004. The first generation Innova was launched in 12 variants. Innova has been the leader in the MPV market since its inception.
Toyota introduces the second generation Krista at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The latest Innova recently launched with a heat resistant glass, USB charging point and a quality speaker. Innova's Delhi Ex-showroom is priced from Rs 14.93 lakh to Rs 22.43 lakh. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marasso and Renault Lodge are the main rivals for the Innova.
