The first demolitions of illegal apartment buildings in Kochi have taken place

Three multi-storey buildings was demolished today with a difference of 5 mins between the two complexes. Constructed in close proximity to water body, a reason for the Coastal Regulation Violation, acc to SC, and also a big concern during demolition.

The Supreme Court ruled that four tower blocks in Maradu, Kochi violated building regulations and must be demolished. The first two buildings —the 18-floor H20 Holy Faith and the twin-towered Alfa Serene — were demolished on January 11, with the remaining demolitions planned for the following day. The four buildings had been home to around 1,500 people.
