85 desi students stranded in Italy have sought evacuation. Is India ready for COVID-19?

India is relatively unharmed by coronavirus but the country’s population density and high rate of migration make it vulnerable to an epidemic, Bloomberg reports. Experts fear an outbreak – the WHO has raised the risk assessment to “very high” – could quickly overwhelm India’s underfunded healthcare system. The economy, which had shown signs of recovery after seven quarters, now faces supply disruptions caused by China's factory shutdowns. Meanwhile, about 85 desi students stranded in Italy have sought evacuation. India as a country currently runs on 8.5 hospital beds per 10,000 patients.

India has reported only 3 cases of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) infection. If this is true then India can congratulate itself. With 1/6th of the world's population if India reports only 3 infections and that too everyone is cured then this is an amazing feat. There are three explanations for this nearly zero Covid-19 infections..

a. One India does not have Covid-19 infections.

b. Indians have Covid-19 infections but are not falling sick.

c. Covid-19 infections are there but just not getting identified and reported.

It is imperative on the part of Indian Health Authorities now to explain clearly why India has only 3 Covid-19 infections.
