Four Nihang Sikhs chop off policeman's hand with sword

Four Nihang sikhs who got into a scuffle with policemen at the Patiala vegetable market chopped off the left hand of an assistant sub-inspector and injured other cops including a station house officer on Sunday morning.

The four Nihangs reached the vegetable market at around 6.15am and were stopped by the Mandi board employees from entering into the market as the did not carry any pass.
Nihangs are is an armed Sikh warrior order originating in the Indian subcontinent.. Nihang are believed to have originated either from Fateh Singh and the attire he wore or from the "Akali Dal" (lit. Army of the Immortal) started by Guru Hargobind.




In an unfortunate incident today morning, a group of Nihangs injured a few Police officers and a Mandi Board official at Sabzi Mandi, Patiala. ASI Harjeet Singh whose hand got cut-off has reached PGI Chandigarh: Dinkar Gupta, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab
