Purushottam Sharma, a 1986 batch IPS officer, was transferred following a viral video which showed him thrashing his wife, soon after she confronted him at the anchor's flat who says that the Madhya Pradesh cop is like a father to her.
Monika Singh Rajpoot's version
Identified as Monika Singh Rajpoot, the complainant, who works as an anchor with a regional news channel, has written to the Shahpura Police Station SHO, alleging mental harassment from Purushottam Sharma's wife.
The order to remove Purushottam Sharma from the post of Director Public Prosecution and transfer him to the state secretariat without assigning him any post was issued by the state home department Under Secretary Annu Bhalavi on Monday.
The government has asked Sharma to submit his reply by 5.30 pm on Tuesday, failing which it will be construed that he doesn't have any response to file and accordingly action will be initiated against him, the order said.
Sharma's version
Sharma has written to IPS association to intervene. Sharma said that till now there is no complaint in this case. He attacked his wife in his defense. She too did not complain. His son shared 2 video's which went viral but he too does not want to complain anymore. In such a situation, Can we suspend an officer only in the name of media trial.
Daughters version
In a new turn of events, IPS officer Purushottam Sharma’s daughter claimed that her mother is suffering from “psychiatric issues”, and she “orchestrated” the whole “drama”. A few days ago a video of the officer beating is his wife went viral on social media, following which he was suspended.
