Rakesh Asthana has been appointed as the Commissioner of Police in Delhi 4 days before his retirement. 


He has previously held the positions of CBI Special Director and BSF Director General.

He is from Gujarat IPS  cadre, head of STF in Godhra train burning case, until recently BSF chief, former CBI joint director/NCB chief . Gujarat cadre officer has held so many key posts at centre. He was to retire on July 31.
