The study conducted by TomTom, a global navigation and mapping technology provider, found that drivers in Bengaluru have to contend with an average speed of just 15.7 km/h. This is significantly slower than the global average of 24.1 km/h. The study measured the traffic congestion in 403 cities around the world and found that the Indian capital, New Delhi, topped the list of slowest cities with an average speed of just 14.5 km/h. Bengaluru was ranked second with an average speed of 15.7 km/h, followed by Bogota, Colombia (17.9 km/h) and Mumbai (19.7 km/h). Other cities in the top 10 were Moscow, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Jakarta. The study also revealed that the most congested day of the week in Bengaluru is Tuesday, with an average speed of just 13.8 km/h. This is significantly slower than the global average of 24.1 km/h.
