The Central government of India has launched a new app named ‘mPassport Police App’ to fast track the passport verification process. This move is aimed at streamlining the passport verification process and ensuring timely updation and issuance of passports. With this app, all verifications will be completed within five days.
The Ministry of External Affairs announced the launch of the ‘mPassport Police App’ on Friday. The app is designed to streamline and expedite the passport issuance system. Police verification is an essential component of the passport issuance system, and various steps have been taken to streamline and expedite the process. The introduction of the ‘mPassport Police App’ is expected to further expedite the process.
On the occasion of Delhi Police Raising Day on Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah dedicated 350 mobile tablets to personnel of the Delhi Police Special Branch. This move will result in the entire process of police verification and submission report being made digital and paperless.
Officials have said that verification using tablets will reduce the verification time from 15 days to five days, which will effectively reduce the passport issuance timeline by 10 days. The Regional Passport Office in Delhi has stated that it is committed to providing efficient service delivery and advancing the ‘Digital India’ initiative.
