From February 11 to 21, 2023, the Nishagandhi Dance Festival will be held at the Kanakakkunnu Palace in Thiruvananthapuram, showcasing an array of classical dance forms such as Mohiniyattam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Manipuri, and more. Held at the open-air Nishagandhi Theater within the Kanakakunnu Palace Compound, the festival is organized by the Department of Tourism and attracts a large number of spectators. One of the festival's highlights is the Nishagandhi Puraskaram or Nishagandhi Award, which recognizes outstanding performers in the field of dance. The first recipient of the award was the celebrated Bharatanatyam danseuse, Mrinalini Sarabhai.
