Shubman Gill Makes History for India with Century in T20I Against New Zealand, Breaking Suresh Raina's 13-Year-Old Record

Shubman Gill, who recently made headlines with his double century against New Zealand, continued his dominant form in T20Is and reached his first T20I century against the BlackCaps in the final match of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With his 54-ball hundred, Gill joined an exclusive group of Indian cricketers - Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, and KL Rahul - who have hit hundreds across all formats.

Gill made history as the youngest Indian player to score a T20I century, surpassing Suresh Raina's record. He achieved the milestone at 23 years and 146 days, just 10 days shy of Raina who hit 101 against South Africa in 2010 at 23 years and 156 days. Gill remained unvanquished on 126 from 63 balls as India posted their highest T20I total against New Zealand at 234/4 after winning the toss and choosing to bat first.

Shubman Gill's tremendous T20I century against New Zealand has earned him a new achievement in Indian cricket. His 126 runs are now the highest individual T20I score ever recorded by an Indian, breaking Virat Kohli's previous record of 122 which he made just 146 days ago. In the third over of the match, Gill showed his dominance by hitting 11 runs off Lockie Ferguson and then cracking three boundaries off Blair Tickner in the next over. After the fall of Rahul Tripathi, Gill was free to go all-out, cementing his place as a dominant opener for India.
