In a significant development, Thalapathy Vijay, a renowned figure in the Kollywood industry, is preparing to make his foray into politics. The decision to establish his political party was approved by the general council of his fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, during a meeting in Chennai on Thursday. This move comes just months ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Sources from the meeting disclosed that Vijay has been given the green light to register his party, take up the mantle of its presidency, and draft its by-laws. Known for his extensive fan base in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Vijay has been an active participant in numerous public welfare activities.
His political commitment was highlighted by his visit to the families affected by the Thuthukudi Police firing incident in 2018. Since then, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been actively involved in political endeavors, including participation in Tamil Nadu local body elections.
Currently, Vijay is engaged in the shooting of his 68th film, ‘GOAT’, directed by Venkat Prabhu. However, reports suggest that this project might be his last acting venture. Vijay is considering taking a break from his acting career to devote his full attention to his emerging political ambitions.
