Netflix’s latest miniseries, ‘Griselda’, brings to life the story of Griselda Blanco, a notorious drug lord often referred to as the “Godmother” of the underworld. The series, led by Sofía Vergara, delves into the life of the mother of four who established one of history’s most successful cartels. But what became of the real-life Queenpin?

‘Griselda’ made its Netflix debut on January 25, 2024, comprising six hour-long episodes. The creative minds behind the series, Eric Newman and Andrés Baiz, are also known for their work on ‘Narcos’ and ‘Narcos: Mexico’. Vergara takes center stage in the series, portraying the formidable Colombian businesswoman who instilled fear in even the most notorious figures, including Pablo Escobar. It is reported that Escobar once confessed, “The only man I was ever afraid of was a woman named Griselda Blanco.”

In a recent interview with agencies stated, “We didn’t want to romanticize her or make her a hero, because she wasn’t.” She added, “But no matter what anyone says, this was a very interesting character.”
