Shivraj Singh Chouhan: From coronation to exile

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been making headlines with his statements after he was replaced by Mohan Yadav as the new CM of the state. Chouhan, who led the BJP to a landslide victory in the recent Assembly polls, had to step down from his post due to the party's policy of not allowing anyone to hold the CM office for more than two consecutive terms.
Chouhan, who had been the CM of Madhya Pradesh for 15 years, said that he was satisfied with the decision and congratulated Yadav, who was sworn in as the CM on Monday. He also expressed his confidence in Yadav's leadership and said that he would continue to serve the people of the state in the coming days.

However, Chouhan also hinted at his disappointment and frustration with the turn of events. He said that sometimes one ends up in exile while waiting for coronation, referring to his political journey. He also said that he would rather die than go and ask for something for himself, implying that he did not lobby for any position in the party or the government.

Chouhan's supporters and admirers also expressed their sadness and anger over his removal. Women in his home constituency of Budhni shouted "don't leave us, bhaiya" and "don't leave mama's house" as he addressed them on Tuesday. Chouhan is popularly known as "mama" (maternal uncle) among his followers.

Chouhan's future role in the BJP is still unclear. Some speculate that he may be given a bigger responsibility at the national level, while others suggest that he may remain in the state politics as a mentor and guide for the new CM. Chouhan himself has said that he is ready to pay back the party for its faith and trust in him and that he will abide by whatever decision the party takes.
