Speculation is rife in political circles regarding the potential inclusion of JD(S) legislature party leader H D Kumaraswamy and three other former chief ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet.
Kumaraswamy expressed unawareness of any such discussions. Sources indicate that the BJP's national leadership aims to secure more seats and boost vote share in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. To achieve this, there are plans to bring four former CMs, including Kumaraswamy, into the Cabinet before the elections. Additional considerations for inclusion are former chief ministers Vasundara Raje (Rajasthan), Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), and Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), as stated by a senior JD(S) leader.
According to BJP sources, discussions at higher levels suggest that some of these leaders may both contest Lok Sabha elections and retain their roles as central ministers if the NDA regains power. In cases where individuals like Kumaraswamy express disinterest in contesting Lok Sabha elections, there is a possibility of their nomination to the Rajya Sabha, as per sources.
Responding to these developments, Kumaraswamy stated that he has not contemplated entering national politics.
