Who is the husband of Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje? Personal and Legal Odyssey Unveiled

Vasundhara Raje hails from the esteemed Scindia family of Gwalior, born to Vijaya Raje Scindia and Jivaji Rao Scindia, with her mother significantly influencing her political ideology. Despite public curiosity about her personal life, there is limited information available. Notably, few are aware that Vasundhara Raje was once married to Hemant Singh of the royal family of Dholpur, resulting in the birth of her son, Dushyant Singh, a BJP MP.

Unfortunately, her marriage faced challenges, leading to separation after just a year, reportedly due to Hemant Singh's extramarital relationship. Vijaya Raje Scindia supported Vasundhara in the ensuing legal battle, where Dushyant sought his rights as the legal heir of the Dholpur Royal family. Despite numerous marriage offers after her separation, Vasundhara remained focused on providing the best care for Dushyant, rejecting any attempts at remarriage.

The prolonged legal dispute reached a resolution in 2007, with an out-of-court settlement granting Dushyant the entire property in Dholpur and Shimla, while Hemant Singh retained assets in Delhi, including jewelry. Throughout this process, Vasundhara Raje distanced herself from legal proceedings.

Highlighting the caste dynamics, Maharaja Hemant Singh, Vasundhara Raje's former husband, is a Jat, while she belongs to the Scindia dynasty, identified as Maratha Rajput. This caste combination proved politically significant, especially among Jats in Rajasthan, who still regard her as one of their own.

Dushyant Singh, their son, further diversified the family's connections by marrying a Gujjar girl.

Vasundhara Raje is an Indian politician and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She has served as the chief minister of Rajasthan twice, from 2003 to 2008 and from 2013 to 2018. She is the first woman to hold this position in the state. She is also the daughter of Vijayaraje Scindia, a prominent BJP leader and former ruler of Gwalior, and the sister of Madhavrao Scindia, a Congress leader who died in a plane crash in 2001. 

She is known for her initiatives in the fields of education, health, tourism, infrastructure, and women empowerment. Some of her achievements include launching the Bhamashah Yojana, a scheme to provide financial inclusion and empowerment to women, the Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan, a campaign to conserve water and increase groundwater levels, the Annapurna Rasoi Yojana, a scheme to provide subsidized meals to the poor, and the Rajshree Yojana, a scheme to provide financial assistance to girl children. 

She is also known for her political acumen and popularity among the masses. She has won several elections from different constituencies, including Jhalawar, Dholpur, and Jhalrapatan. She has also faced several challenges and controversies, such as the Gurjar agitation, the Lalit Modi scandal, the Padmavati row, and the rebellion of Sachin Pilot. She is currently one of the national vice presidents of the BJP.
