Thiruvananthapuram - CPM State Secretary MV Govindan dismissed the criticism surrounding actress Shobhana's attendance at the BJP's women's empowerment conference in Thrissur. He emphasized that cultural leaders participating in the Prime Minister's program is a natural occurrence and clarified that he has no intention of categorizing Shobhana and others as part of the BJP.
Govindan highlighted that arts and sports personalities, regardless of their political affiliations, belong to the shared heritage of Kerala. He asserted that the decision to attend the Prime Minister's meeting is a personal choice for these individuals, and participating in such events should not be deemed wrong. He urged against transforming artists and sports figures into tools of party politics.
"Actors become ambassadors based on their abilities, not their political affiliations. Shobhana, a highly skilled dancer and accomplished woman in the film industry, along with others, will not be brought into the BJP's fold. Regardless of their political leanings, they are part of the collective identity of Kerala," stated MV Govindan to the media.
Addressing the criticism directed at Shobhana for her statements during the BJP program in Thrissur, Govindan clarified the party's stance. Shobhana's remarks, including praising the leadership, stirred controversy, and the unexpected appearance on the BJP stage led to initial astonishment and subsequent ridicule, followed by sharp criticism.
Shobhana's comments on her Facebook page, stating it was the first time she had seen so many women at an event, also faced criticism
