Qatar Frees 8 Ex-Navy Personnel After Modi’s Intervention.

It shows the strong diplomatic relations between India and Qatar, and the personal efforts of Prime Minister Modi to secure the release of the eight Indian ex-Navy men who were detained in Qatar on espionage charges. The release also came after India and Qatar signed a historic deal to extend LNG imports for another 20 years, which will benefit both countries in terms of energy security and economic cooperation. The families of the released men are relieved and grateful to the government and the Prime Minister for bringing them back home safely.

Modi secured their release by personally supervising the developments in the case and initiating diplomatic efforts with the Emir of Qatar. He also scheduled a visit to Qatar on February 14, 2024, to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.
