The tragic incident unfolded on Monday evening when a high-intensity explosion ripped through a slow-moving car at a traffic signal near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro station, gutting several vehicles and sending shockwaves through the national capital. Expressing profound grief, CM Gupta took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to convey the Delhi government's solidarity. "The unfortunate incident in Delhi has left the entire city in shock. In this hour of difficulty, the Government of Delhi extends its deepest condolences to all those families who have lost their loved ones and to those who have been injured in this incident," she posted in Hindi.
Under the relief measures, families of each deceased victim will receive Rs 10 lakh as ex-gratia payment. Additionally, Rs 5 lakh has been allocated for individuals rendered permanently disabled, while those with serious injuries will get Rs 2 lakh. For victims sustaining minor injuries, a sum of Rs 20,000 has been promised. The government has also committed to covering all medical expenses for the injured, ensuring access to quality treatment at state-run facilities like Lok Nayak Hospital.
"The Delhi government stands firmly with every affected family and has taken a compassionate decision for immediate relief," Gupta emphasized, directing concerned departments to expedite the distribution process without delays. She visited the injured at hospitals alongside Delhi Minister Ashish Sood, underscoring the administration's hands-on approach.
This announcement comes amid heightened security alerts across Delhi, with investigations underway by the Delhi Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe potential terror links.
