The much-anticipated third installment of the blockbuster Drishyam franchise has finally locked its release date. Ajay Devgn will reprise his iconic role as the clever Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam 3, set to hit theaters on October 2, 2026 – coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.

The makers announced the news on December 22, 2025, through a gripping promo featuring Ajay Devgn's voiceover, teasing: "#Drishyam3 on #DrishyamDay. Aakhri hissa baaki hai" (The final part remains). This positions the film as the concluding chapter in the thrilling saga of a family man outsmarting the law to protect his loved ones.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak (who helmed Drishyam 2), the film brings back the core cast, including Tabu as the formidable IG Meera Deshmukh, Shriya Saran as Vijay's wife, and others like Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, and Rajat Kapoor. Production is underway, with filming spanning real locations.

The choice of October 2 is no coincidence – in the Drishyam universe, this date is pivotal to Vijay Salgaonkar's airtight alibi from the first film (2015). Fans have fondly dubbed it "Drishyam Day," and the ironic nod to Gandhi Jayanti (a day celebrating truth and non-violence) adds to the franchise's clever meta appeal.

Following the massive success of Drishyam (2015) and Drishyam 2 (2022), expectations are high for this finale. Netizens are buzzing with memes like "Phir se Gandhi Jayanti aur Sam ki dead-body," eagerly awaiting Vijay's next masterstroke.

Mark your calendars – Vijay Salgaonkar is back to remind us: "October 2... yaad hai na?"
