Sunil Kujur, a 1986-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer is New Chief Secretary Chhattisgarh

The newly-elected Congress government in Chhattisgarh replaced the state's chief secretary, Ajay Singh, with Sunil Kujur, a 1986-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, on Wednesday night in a sudden move.

According to an order issued by the government, Mr Singh, a 1983-batch IAS officer who was appointed as the chief secretary in January 2018, has been made the chairman of the Revenue Board, Bilaspur. Mr Singh was replaced by Mr Kujur, who was posted as the additional chief secretary (ACS) of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Commerce and Industry and Public Sector departments.

 Besides, two other senior IAS officers were also shifted in a major bureaucratic reshuffle late Wednesday night. Koppala Durgananda Prasad Rao, a 1988-batch IAS officer who was posted as the chairman, Revenue Board, Bilaspur, was shifted as the ACS, Agriculture and Biotechnology, and commissioner, Agriculture Production, the order said.

Total 22.11 per cent seats of the sanctioned strength of 6,553 IAS posts are vacant in India. Not only this, 19.64 per cent seats of the total sanctioned strength of 4,940 posts of IPS officers are also yet to be filled. Revealing this information on Friday, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, said there are over 2,400 posts of IAS (Indian Administrative Services) and IPS (Indian Police Services) officers vacant in the country

20 IAS officers transferred in Adityanath govt’s first reshuffle

In the first major bureaucratic reshuffle by Yogi Adityanath government, 20 senior IAS officers, including Principal Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal were today transferred.
Mr. Sehgal, who wielded considerable influence in Akhilesh Yadav government, also held the charge of Religious Affaris, Information and Tourism.

He was the CEO of UP Industrial Development Authority, UP State Highway Authority and Additional Resident Commissioner, New Delhi.
An official release here said that he has been put on the wait list.
UP cadre IAS officer Avanish Kumar Awasthi, who was on wait list after he was relieved from the Centre, has got charge of all the departments held by Sehgal.
