Uttar Pradesh: 48 criminals killed in cross firing in 1450 operations against criminals in past one year: O P Singh, DGP

In 1450 operations against criminals in Uttar Pradesh in past one year, 48 criminals were killed in cross firing, said Director General of Police O P Singh here on Saturday.

Mr Singh said that 3334 criminals were arrested, 48 were gunned down in which reward of Rs 5000 to Rs 1 lakh was announced on 2000 criminals. He said that 6868 convicted surrendered in court after cancelling their bail which indicated improving law and order condition in state.

Uttar Pradesh is celebrating its foundation day on today

A state cabinet meeting chaired by Yogi Adityanath decided on Tuesday to celebrateJanuary 24 every year as Foundation Day of Uttar Pradesh. Several functions have been organised across the state on the occasion. The main function will be held in Lucknow. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will be the Chief Guest. “It is a matter of pride for every state tocelebrate its Foundation Day. As UP does not have its prescribed Foundation Day, the Yogi government has decided to celebrate it.

49 Children Die in one month in Farrukhabad Govt Hospital Due to 'Lack of Oxygen'



New Delhi: In a shameful rerun of last month’s Gorakhpur tragedy that claimed 63 lives, 49 children died in a government hospital in Farukkhabad, allegedly due to shortage of oxygen.

The deaths were reported over a period of one month at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Farrukhabad. The District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar has ordered a probe into the incident.

UP: BJP MLA against his own government, warned of fasting

Surendra Singh, BJP MLA from Bairiya area in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, today came down on the road by alleging rampant corruption bu his own BJP goverment. He  protested by making a human chain and warned of fasting.

Despite the allocation of the budget to prevent the floods every year he complained that no work is commeneced by the goverment, He created seven kilometer long human chain with his large number of supporters as a symbolic protests

Yogi govt cancels 15 holidays on VIPs' birth, death anniversaries

The Uttar Pradesh government cancelled 15 state-specific public holidays that were being observed to mark birth and death anniversaries of historical figures, political and religious leaders.


Currently, government servants in the state are entitled to a potential 180-odd holidays and leaves. This translates to six months of holidays, including 104 weekends, 40 public holidays, restricted holidays, earned and medical leaves.



At an event to mark the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar on April 14, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had expressed displeasure at the huge number of public holidays in the state. Nearly all of these holidays were declared in the last decade and a half.

The UP cabinet on Tuesday cancelled 15 of these public holidays. But national holidays will continue to be observed in the state.

The cabinet decided to cancel the public holiday to mark the birth anniversary of former Bihar chief minister Karpoori Thakur, obverved on January 24. Interestingly, his birth anniversary is not a public holiday in Bihar.

Some of the other holidays cancelled are: Maharshi Kashyap and Maharaj Guna anniversary observed on April 5, Cheti Chand, or Sindhi new year (in 2017 observed on March 29), Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s anniversary (observed on April 14); birth anniversary of former prime minister Chandra Shekhar on April 17; Rajput king Maharana Pratap’s anniversary on May 9; last Friday of Ramzan (to be observed this year on June 23); Maharaja Agrasen birth anniversary (September 21); Vishwakaram puja (to be observed in 2017 on September 17); Mahrshi Valmiki jayanti; Chhath festival (October 26); Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Acharya Narendra Deva birth anniversaries on October 31; Id-e-Milad, or the Prophet’s birthday (to be observed in 2017 on December 2); and former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh’s birth anniversary on December 23

20 IAS officers transferred in Adityanath govt’s first reshuffle

In the first major bureaucratic reshuffle by Yogi Adityanath government, 20 senior IAS officers, including Principal Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal were today transferred.
Mr. Sehgal, who wielded considerable influence in Akhilesh Yadav government, also held the charge of Religious Affaris, Information and Tourism.
 

He was the CEO of UP Industrial Development Authority, UP State Highway Authority and Additional Resident Commissioner, New Delhi.
An official release here said that he has been put on the wait list.
UP cadre IAS officer Avanish Kumar Awasthi, who was on wait list after he was relieved from the Centre, has got charge of all the departments held by Sehgal.
