Manohar Parrikar's health: BJP starts search for new CM candidate in Goa

Amid reports that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's health had worsened, the Congress on Saturday staked claim, asking Governor Mridula Sinha to "dismiss" the BJP-led government which it said was in a minority. The party also said it "anticipates that numbers of the BJP may further dwindle".MLAs and core committee members of the Goa Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday met to discuss the political situation rising out of the health condition of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Parrikar has been suffering from a pancreatic ailment. His health had deteriorated earlier in the day sparking hectic political activities across parties in the coastal state.

For the past few days, Indians have probably been using Chinese-made phones to seek a boycott of made-in-China products.

After China blocked a March 13 UN Security Council move to blacklist Masood Azhar, the chief of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, as a “global terrorist,” Indians trended #BoycottChineseProducts on Twitter. They asked fellow citizens to stop buying China-made electronic products, clothing, and firecrackers, among other things.

Yet, in fiscal 2018, Indians spent upwards of Rs50,000 crore ($7.2 billion) on just four Chinese smartphone brands—Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Honor.

Redmi Go India Launch Set for March 19

Redmi Go – Xiaomi's first Android Go smartphone – was launched in January this year and went up for pre-order in Philippines the next month. Xiaomi is now gearing up to bring the smartphone to India and has started sending out invites for Redmi Go's launch in India. The Chinese smartphone maker's Android Go-powered smartphone is all set to be launched on March 19, 2019. Xiaomi is sending out media invites for the 'Go' launch event on March 19 in New Delhi, set to begin at 12pm IST. The Redmi Go is an entry-level smartphone that is powered by the Snapdragon 425 SoC paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

Rafale deal: Govt tells Supreme Court documents stolen from defence ministry

Conveying its strong indisposition to have the Rafale deal scrutinised again, the central government on Wednesday told the Supreme Court that documentsrelated to the Rafale aircraft deal have been "stolen" from defense ministry.The CPI Wednesday described as "shameful" the government telling the Supreme Court that sensitive files pertaining to the Rafale fighter jet deal were "stolen", and asked it to respond to the charges made against it, instead of "shooting the messenger".In the Supreme Court, Attorney General K K Venugopal said before a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi that those who put documents on the Rafale deal in the public domain are guilty under the Official Secrets Act as also contempt of court.
