Some of that tinsel aura may fade for the 'baba of bling', who is not the regular godman in saffron but a curious amalgam of reel and real defying easy description.  


It is a well-known fact that Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has a massive following, especially in Punjab and Haryana. Not only in India but reportedly Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh enjoys big following in other countries as well. Millions of followers are connected with Dera and according to an estimate, the sect's property is worth over billions of rupees.

According to a report in Jansatta, Dera has a daily income of Rs 16,44,833. This means Dera earns Rs 600,364,103 (Over 60 crore INR). Noteworthy, this figure was taken 3 years ago. Now, the income of Dera has touched billions of rupees.



According to an Income Tax data cited by Jansatta in its report, in 2010-11 Dera's income was Rs 165,248,455. In the year 2011-12, it grew to Rs 202,099,999. Moreover, in the 2012-13 year, it touched Rs 290,818,760. Moreover, Dera Sacha Sauda and the organisations related to it enjoy tax exemption from Income Tax Department under Section 10(23) in The Income Tax Act, 1995.
