Gold Biscuits For Karnataka Lawmakers?

Bengaluru: In the middle of public alarm over a dozen deaths linked to potholes in Bengaluru and a sanitation crisis, a plan to gift gold biscuits to 300 Karnataka lawmakers has appalled many. According to NDTV news television ,The gift has been proposed for the celebration of 60 years of the Karnataka state assembly or Vidhan Souda on October 25 and 26.

The state assembly secretariat has sent a budget of nearly Rs 27 crores for the grand event to the Congress government, which says it was never looped in about the wildly exorbitant proposal.

A series of events have been organised on October 25 and 26 to celebrate the occasion. President Ram Nath Kovind will commemorate the diamond jubilee of the Vidhana Soudha by addressing a special joint session of the Karnataka legislature on October 25.

The celebrations include a special discussion on the state's history, its land, water, resources and nature along with cultural programmes.

Built in a Neo-Dravidian style of architecture, the Vidhana Soudha is spread over 60 acres and houses the Legislative Assembly and Council chambers, in addition to offices of the chief minister, prominent ministers and senior government officers.
