Pakistan cannot execute Kulbhushan Jhadav : ICJ

Kulbhushan Jadhav was captured by Pakistan in March 2016 and tried in a military court which pronounced its judgment on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017, the verdict today was in favour of him.India had challenged Pakistani military court’s verdict citing the violation of the Vienna Convention on consular access and process of resolution. The ICJ ruling has come as a big diplomatic victory for India in Kulbhushan Jadhav case but not all the remedies sought by New Delhi were accepted by the court.

The UN court said "a continued stay of execution constitutes an indispensable condition for the effective review and reconsideration of the conviction and sentence of Jadhav." The President of the Court Judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf read out the verdict in The Hague.
