Police have registered a case against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray for demanding that loudspeakers be removed from mosques by May 3, the day of Eid. He has been charged with making provocative speech. Aurangabad police have registered an FIR against three other organizers of the rally. The case has been registered under Section 153 of the IPC.Raj Thackeray had demanded that loudspeakers be banned from Mosques . Thackeray had threatened that activists would chant Hanuma Chalisa if it was not removed. This was followed by a huge rally in Aurangabad on Sunday.
Police officials have been directed to cancel the leave and re-enter as there is a possibility of law and order issues in the current situation. Additional security has been put in place in various areas.
Maharashtra Police Chief Rajneesh Seth has said that the Aurangabad Police Commissioner will take appropriate legal action against Raj Thackeray. "The speech is being examined by the Aurangabad commissioner. He will take necessary legal action today," he told reporters.
The Maharashtra Police is capable of handling any kind of law and order situation. The DGP said SRPF and home guards have been deployed in the state. He appealed to all to keep the peace.
