Supreme Court appoints a veteran judge to mediate the family property dispute of Lalit Modi.



To resolve the family property dispute involving billionaire and former IPL president Lalit Modi, his mother Bina Modi, and his siblings, the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday appointed former top court judge Justice RV Raveendran as a mediator.

The bench recorded that the senior counsel appearing for the parties unanimously to go into mediation without any precondition to settle the dispute.

“We also think the issue can be resolved through mediation”, a bench headed by the Chief Justice of India observed.

The court further directed parties to maintain confidentiality and not use social media in relation to the case while the mediation is going on and the case is pending before the court.
