Hiraben, the mother of India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, passed away at the age of 100.



Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, announced on Friday that his mother, Hiraben, had passed away at the age of 100. Hiraben was admitted to UN Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night due to declining health and passed away early on Friday morning. In a statement, PM Modi described Hiraben's life as "a great journey of 100 years" that had come to an end.




Hiraben, the mother of India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, passed away at the age of 100. On June 18, 2022, she had celebrated her 100th birthday with a puja held at the Hatkeshwar temple in Vadnagar. In honor of the occasion, PM Modi wrote a blog post about his mother, highlighting the sacrifices she made and the ways in which her life and personality had influenced his own development. Hiraben was originally from Palanpur and moved to Vadnagar after marrying Damodar das Modi at the age of 13. In Vadnagar, she was known for treating small children and women with home remedies and was referred to as Dossi Maa by her family. In her later years, Hiraben lived with Modi's younger brother, Pankaj, at Raysan village near Gandhinagar. PM Modi would often visit his mother at this location when he was in Gujarat.
