Madhya Pradesh Minister Narottam Mishra has expressed anger over a song featuring Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. The song, titled "Pathaan", was released earlier this week and features Padukone dancing to a traditional Madhya Pradesh folk tune.
Mishra, who is the Home minister in Madhya Pradesh, has accused the creators of the song of "disrespecting" the state's culture and traditions. In a statement, he said that the song has "hurt the sentiments of the people of Madhya Pradesh" and demanded that it be removed from all platforms.
The song, which was released as part of a brand campaign, has faced criticism from other quarters as well. Some have accused the creators of cultural appropriation, while others have pointed out that the song portrays Madhya Pradesh in a stereotypical and oversimplified way.
Despite the backlash, the creators of the song have defended it, saying that it was created with the goal of promoting Madhya Pradesh's rich cultural heritage. They have also apologized for any offense that may have been caused.
