Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, was in Coimbatore to participate in the Maha Shivaratri celebrations organized by the Isha Foundation founded by Sadhguru.

 President Droupadi Murmu participates in the Mahashivaratri Celebrations organized by the Isha Foundation, in Coimbatore. The event is being attended by Governor RN Ravi and Tamil Nadu's Minister for Information Technology, Mano Thangaraj. Prior to this, the President visited the Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple in Madurai on the first day of her two-day visit to the state. Although the Shivaratri celebrations at the Isha Foundation's campus are a night-long programme, President Murmu would only stay for a few hours before returning to the Circuit House for the night. On the following day, she would visit the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington (Nilgiris district), before departing for New Delhi.

 


Tamil Nadu governor Ravindra Narayana Ravi and Tamil Nadu IT minister Thiru Mano Thangaraj were also present at the program.

Addressing the event, the President said, “I feel specially blessed today. I feel blessed to be here on the holy occasion of Maha Shivratri in the presence of Adiyogi.” She termed Lord Shiva as a “deity for all” and the night of Maha Shivratri as marking “the end of the darkness of ignorance”.
