Indian Official S. Jaishankar Stresses Importance of Addressing Terrorism in India-Pakistan Relationship
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has recently been making waves in the international community. His active participation in various media channels and press interviews has been instrumental in furthering India's diplomatic relations with other countries. Jaishankar, who took office as the External Affairs Minister in May 2019, has been actively engaging with the world leaders and diplomats to further India's interests. He has been credited for successfully negotiating the disengagement of Chinese troops from the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh. He has also been instrumental in initiating a series of dialogues with the Quad partners, comprising India, the US, Japan and Australia, to ensure regional stability and peace in the Indo-Pacific region. In a recent interview, Jaishankar highlighted India's role as a responsible major power and a leader in the international community. He mentioned that India is committed to the “idea of globalisation” and is determined to uphold the international order based on the rule of law. He also discussed India's recent efforts to resolve issues with its neighbours, such as Pakistan and Bangladesh, through dialogue.
His diplomatic efforts have been widely praised as he has taken decisive steps to strengthen India's ties with countries around the globe. In a recent press conference, Jaishankar discussed India's efforts to build a strong and reliable relationship with ASEAN countries. He highlighted the importance of the ASEAN-India partnership in the region and assured that India will continue to work together with ASEAN countries to further strengthen the ties. Jaishankar also held a telephonic conversation with his counterparts from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Japan to discuss the situation in the South China Sea. He highlighted the importance of maintaining open and free navigation in the region and discussed the need for a peaceful resolution of the dispute. Jaishankar has also been very vocal about India's stance on the ongoing border tensions with China. He has stated that India will not back down from its side of the border and that the country is ready to protect its sovereignty at any cost. He has also called upon other countries to take a firm stand against China's aggressive posturing.
This week , Jaishankar emphasized the fundamental issue of terrorism in the India-Pakistan relationship and stressed the importance of addressing it. He also acknowledged the need for both countries to confront their economic, political, and social challenges to become prosperous powers. Additionally, he stated that severe economic crises are detrimental to all countries, including neighboring ones.
S Jaishankar stated that the importance of Asia will undoubtedly increase, as it has a global impact. However, he cautioned against the rhetoric of "Asia for Asians," which appeals to primitive chauvinism and has a hidden strategic intent. Additionally, Jaishankar noted that his top priority is reflecting on the issues in his neighborhood, as India shares its borders with three countries. The Asia Economic Dialogue's opening session featured Jaishankar, Bhutan's finance minister Lyonpo Namgay Tshering, and Maldives' finance minister Ibrahim Ameer.
