Sayanna, a Telangana state Assembly member from the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency, passed away due to heart and kidney-related ailments in a Hyderabad hospital. Sayanna had been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit since February 16. He is survived by his three daughters.
Sayanna was known as a non-controversial politician and had been elected as MLA for five terms from the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency. He started his political career with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in 1994. He won the same seat in 1999 and 2004, but lost the election in 2009. Sayanna was again elected from the same seat on the TDP ticket in 2014. He later joined the BRS and retained the seat in the 2018 polls.
Sayanna also served as the director of the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for six terms. In 2015, he was appointed as a member of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) governing council.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his condolences to the members of Sayanna's family, saying that Sayanna had served the people as a five-time MLA and in various capacities. Minister for Industries, K. T. Rama Rao, also conveyed his condolences to Sayanna's family, describing him as a humble and polite leader who always worked for the well-being of the Secunderabad Cantonment
