Indian Prime Minister Modi and Italian counterpart Meloni discuss bilateral relations and Ukraine crisis resolution

 


Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his belief that dialogue and diplomacy could resolve the Ukraine crisis in a joint statement with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Modi made the comments after holding bilateral talks with his Italian counterpart in New Delhi on Thursday. Meloni expressed hope that India's G20 presidency could facilitate a negotiating process to end hostilities in Ukraine. Modi welcomed Italy's participation in the Indo-Pacific region and announced the establishment of a "Start-Up Bridge" between India and Italy. Additionally, both countries agreed to develop their defence manufacturing sector through co-production and co-development opportunities, as well as to conduct regular joint exercises and training courses. India and Italy are also celebrating the 75th anniversary of their bilateral relationship this year, and Modi stated that they would strengthen ties in fields such as renewable energy, hydrogen, IT, telecom, semiconductors, and space. The two leaders also discussed counter-terrorism efforts and separatism.
