Nitin Gadkari announces 70 road projects totalling 2,014 km and costing Rs 33,540 crore in Andhra Pradesh at investment summit
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, addressed Andhra Pradesh's Global Investment Summit 2023 and revealed that there are currently 70 projects underway in the state, costing Rs 33,540 crore and covering a total length of 2,014 km. Gadkari also stated that five Green Highways and two Expressways are being established at a total cost of Rs 32,430 crore. Furthermore, he announced that during 2022-23, a total of 27 projects, covering a length of 777 km and costing Rs 15,400 crore, have been awarded. Additionally, two Multimodal Logistics Parks have been sanctioned in Visakhapatnam and Anantapur, with a total cost of Rs 1,797 crore, to serve as a key hub for freight cargo consolidation in the region. Gadkari emphasized the significant increase in the length of National Highways (NHs) in Andhra Pradesh from 4,193 km to 8,744 km during the eight and a half years of the Narendra Modi-led government. He also highlighted the government's commitment to promoting sustainable practices and creating opportunities for green energy and a green economy in the mobility sector, in line with Prime Minister Modi's vision.
